Colin (age 5)  Addison (age 2.5)

Colin was messing with Addison and she was screaming at him, so I called him over to tell him to stop.  While I was having a talk with him Addison started yelling, "No Mommy!  Leave him alone!  That's my brother!"

December 29

Addison (age 2.5)

I was looking at something on the computer and must have been making a funny face....

Addison "Mom... what's that face?  I don't like that face.  Don't make that face, okay."

December 28

He has started doing that thing where, when Addison does something crazy or silly he will look at me and shrug.

Addison (age 2.5)

pack pack = back pack

And I love how she says it.  And I refuse to correct it.

December 20

Colin (age 5)

Let me start by saying that Colin has races almost daily.  The "race tracks" (as they are invisible) can be a straight line... or they can go around the room.  More than once.  In a zig zag.  That was the case on this day...

Me "Wow, Colin!  How in the world do you remember where the track goes?!"
Colin "I remember because I always try to finish before sunset."

It was 7:00 pm.  It was dark.  Way past sunset...

December 19

Addison (age 2.5)

She fell and started crying...
Me "I am so sorry Addison."
Addison "It's not your fault.  It's my fault." (sniff sniff)

December 18

Addison (age 2.5)

Me "Addison, please go put on your shoes"
A "Okay, in a minute, after I twirl"

December 17

C "Addison don't do that, you might break a bone"

A "noooo, we don't have bones, dogs have bones, silly"

A "Moooom! Colin said 'body'!"

Apparently a bad word ?

Colin and Addison were playing a game while I was making dinner I overheard this...

C "I'm not going to play that game with you Addison because I don't understand you."
A "That's okay Colin"

December 10

Colin (5 years)

Talking to Addison
"Hey sweetie.  It's okay sweet girl."

December 9

Colin (5 years)

I was watching the kids play outside, they didn't know I was watching, and I heard Colin tell Addison,
"I am going to do something dangerous and you can't do it because you are just a little baby."
And then he patted her back and walked off.

(For the record, he was climbing up the slide, then trying to climb across the play swing set... which he actually couldn't do either)

Addison "Hey... no, call me princess"

December 5

Colin (age 5)

Garet and I were in the kitchen cleaning up dinner and told the kids to go to the playroom... we turned it into a game...
"Go into the playroom and the one that plays in there the longest wins!"

A few minutes later, we could hear Addison and Colin talking and then Addison came up to me and said, "Hey mommy, I love you."
And then we hear Colin yell, "I'M THE WINNER!"

Ha!  He tricked her into coming and talking to us so that he would be the last one in the playroom.

December 4

Addison (age 2)

I heard her yelling, "trouble!  TROUBLE!  And NO crying!"

I went to see what was going on... she had put a magnet on a chair... pushed it to the wall (where we give time outs) and was yelling at it.

December 3

Addison (age 2)

Addison came up to me crying about her "spilled water"
There was NO water in the cup
Real tears and all.
I pretended to fill up her empty cup with pretend water and she immediately started laughing and playing again.

Me: What?  What bucket?
A: So I can get candy!
Me: Um... not Halloween, Christmas... you don't get candy at Christmas...
